Receipt rules

Endless Receipt is a novelty website. It is one long public receipt. Reading it is free. If you want, you can pay to add a single numbered line to it. That line is the whole product — there is nothing to download, nothing gets shipped, and nothing arrives in the post.

• ·A name. Required, 30 characters maximum.
• ·A message. Required, 80 characters maximum.
• ·Plain text only — no HTML, no Markdown, no embeds, no scripts.
• ·Duplicate names are allowed. Two people can both be SAM.
• ·Domain names and URLs are not allowed in either field. Destinations have their own field.

A name is a label you typed, nothing more. It does not establish identity, ownership, affiliation, or permission to use a trademark, and we do not check any of those things. Only submit content you have the right to submit.

• ·The minimum is $1.00 USD. Above that, you pick the amount — the number is the joke.
• ·Every payment is a one-off. There is no subscription and no account.
• ·You are paying to add a line to the public receipt. That is the entire thing you get.
• ·Your receipt number is assigned only after your payment is confirmed.
• ·Numbers are sequential and are never reused, even if the line is later voided.

A linked receipt also gets a public outbound link on this site. What it does not buy is traffic, clicks, leads, customers, search ranking, business results, or any kind of endorsement. It buys a line on a receipt, and a link on that line.

• ·A destination is optional. A receipt without one works exactly the same.
• ·Any receipt from $1.00 may include one. There is no separate price for a link.
• ·A destination can be a website, a business, a project, a shop, a portfolio, or a social profile — anything reachable over https.
• ·https:// only. Plain http, IP addresses, ports, credentials in the URL, punycode domains and link shorteners are all rejected.
• ·Your full URL is never displayed. Your name becomes the link, marked with ↗, and the destination hostname is shown on your receipt page.
• ·Every outbound click passes through our redirect handler, which re-checks the destination before sending you on.

When you paste a destination we fetch that page from our servers to read its public title, description and icon, and use them to fill in the form for you. You can edit both fields before paying, and you can ignore the suggestions entirely. If the page cannot be read — plenty of sites refuse automated requests — we fall back to the hostname or the profile handle and you fill the rest in yourself. Nothing on the page is executed.

The name and message on your receipt are yours. The destination’s own name, description and icon are shared by everyone who links to it, come from the destination itself, and are not something an individual purchase can rewrite.

There is no ownership check. Anyone can link to anything, so a destination appearing on a receipt does not mean the person who paid owns it, runs it, or is connected to it in any way, and it is not an endorsement by us or by them. The same destination may appear on as many receipts as people care to buy; each one is its own permanent line with its own number.

Linked sites belong to whoever submitted them. We do not run them, review their contents, or endorse them. Our checks are format and safety rules applied at submission — they are not a guarantee that a destination is safe, and a site that was fine last month can change at any time. Follow external links at your own discretion.

We can switch off any outbound link at any time, on our own or after a report. Doing that leaves the receipt and its number exactly where they are — only the link stops working.

Every qualifying linked receipt counts toward Receipt Leaders. Buy three receipts pointing at the same destination and they stay three separate lines on the tape, with three separate numbers — but their amounts add up into one entry on the board.

• ·Rank is total qualifying spend. Nothing else buys position.
• ·If two destinations have spent the same, the one with more receipts ranks higher.
• ·If they are still level, the one whose earliest receipt came first ranks higher.
• ·Clicks are shown because they are interesting. They have no effect on rank at all.
• ·Click counts are approximate. Repeat visits from the same person inside a short window are counted once.

Rank is not a thing you keep. It moves whenever anyone else buys, so a position that looks settled today can be gone tomorrow with no notice and no refund. There is no reserved spot, no minimum placement, and no prize for being at the top.

A line stops contributing if it is voided, if its link is switched off, if its destination is disabled, or if the payment is refunded. When that happens the receipt number stays on the tape permanently and the amount still counts toward the receipt’s own totals — it simply stops counting toward Receipt Leaders.

Do not submit content that is:

• ·illegal, or that helps someone do something illegal
• ·fraudulent or deceptive
• ·threatening, abusive, or hateful
• ·sexually exploitative
• ·malicious — malware, phishing, or credential theft
• ·impersonating someone in a harmful or deceptive way
• ·infringing someone else’s intellectual property
• ·spam
• ·otherwise unsafe or clearly inappropriate

Obvious cases are refused before payment, so you are not charged for something that was never going to print. Everything else is handled after the fact.

Receipt numbers are permanent. Content is not. If a line breaks these rules, the number stays on the tape and its content is replaced with:

A void line still counts as having existed and still counts toward the item total. The number remains reserved and is never issued to anyone else. We can also disable just the link and leave the message alone.

The intent is that lines stay up. That is the point of the thing. But we keep the ability to moderate content and, if we ever have to, to stop or retire the service.

Every active line has a small ••• control for reporting it. Reports are rate-limited, and filing one is not a vote — a human reads it and decides. Reporting something does not guarantee it will be removed.

Purchases are generally final, because we fulfil them by publishing your line to the public receipt — once it is printed, you have received the thing you paid for.

We will consider a refund where:

• ·you were charged more than once for the same line
• ·something broke on our side
• ·payment was taken but the receipt was never printed
• ·a refund is required by law

Moderating your content or disabling your link does not by itself entitle you to a refund. If you think one of the situations above applies to you, write to wasted@endlessreceipt.com and include your receipt number.
